Scars

While sitting in church this morning, the only person in the row, it occurred to me that I was alone. Other church-goers were in their seats, but I was sitting alone. It also occured to me that it was of my own doing. It is a bit of an odd feeling, neither good nor bad, just a matter of fact.

From the row behind me I hear, "Look at all of my scars." And I thought to myself, "Look at all of my scars!"

While the young speaker was referring to the scars on her hands from various childhood mishaps, I was thinking of the scars on my heart. Those scars, the ones I try to hide, but are truly never hidden, are part of the reason I sit alone. And almost as quickly as those thoughts flashed by, were the words "Look at the scars on My hands, for by them you were healed".

A flush washed over me as I was ever so gently reminded that for all the scars I bear, for all the wounds I've suffered and caused, there are none so precious nor healing than the wounds my Savior suffered for me. Little old me, whom He loved, and cherished, and died for.

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

Thank you Lord for sweet reminders, tender healing, and the grace to continue each day. I am not alone with You by my side.

Tea Towel Challenge!

I've been looking at all the wonderfully creative entries over at Jenny of ELEFANTZ's blog and thinking to myself..."I can do that"! The hard part has been finding the time and a tea towel I wanted to use for something. Having conquered both of those missions and having toyed around with several different projects for some L'amour fabric I won on SewFlake's blog, I finally decided what to make. The applique came from Jacquelynne at The Noble Wife and the pattern for the zippered bag can be found on Terri's blog, Sew-Fantastic. So here it is...

Hush now, its a gift:

The parts --

The finish --

Now to go and find some wonderful things to fill it with!!! :-D

Have a great day!!!

Beautiful Monday

For Today, January 25, 2010

Outside my window...everything is freshly washed and thoroughly watered from last week's rain.

I am thinking...okay this is still stretching me. That's good right?

I am thankful for...my electric blanket that is keeping me warm. (seriously)

From the kitchen...there is silence.

I am wearing...sweats and a sweatshirt, nice and comfy!!

I am creating...Valentine's gifts and a February mini quilt.

I am going...to bed early tonight!

I am reading...the same books as last week.

I am hoping...for God's sweet abundance in my life.

I am hearing...television commercials and cats snoring. (the cats have the right idea)

Around the house...are little evidences of projects in various stages of being completed.

One of my favorite things...is the way the rain makes everything so much brighter and more colorful.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...good friends come in all shapes and sizes.

Simply Scrumptious

This yarn is simply scrumptious. It is soft, wonderfully rich, and best of all the fibers are 100% natural bamboo and wool. It's called bamboo ewe by Stitch Nation. This color is Eucalyptus. Yum!!!!

I really love natural fibers, so I am really excited to have found this yarn.

A First Post - Simple

I am not one who usually journals. I am not sure why, so I am making an effort to change that in a simple way. You can find out more about the Simple Woman's DayBook on her blog.

FOR TODAY, January 18, 2010

Outside my window...I see gray skies that promise rain...The weather man says it will rain for about 5 days...I wonder if he will be right?

I am thinking...that sharing on a regular basis will stretch me and hold me a bit more accountable for the things I want to accomplish.

I am thankful for...grandbabies!!! They are truly a blessing from God.

From the kitchen...I hear dishes calling.

I am wearing...Sweats...maybe I should go change.

I am creating...many things...but on the table right now I have an embroidery project for a quilt and am knitting a scarf with bamboo/wool yarn.

I am going...to the mall later to get some exercise and see my daughter and grandson.

I am reading...A 30-Day Walk With God in the Psalms and Women of the Bible.

I am hoping...my back pain will dissipate and let me function normally.

I am hearing...sounds of industry as people work nearby.

Around the house...it is quiet...the cats are asleep.

One of my favorite things...is a really good cup of coffee (or two) in the morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week...work on completing documentation at work, create a little every day...start on my taxes (ugh).

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...Texas skies are really BIG!! I sure do miss them.
